The Evening skies amazed people all over the World

"The longest lunar eclipse in over ten years animated the night sky on December 10. The red hue resulted from the sun's light passing through the earth's atmosphere. Viewers in Asia had the best view of the total eclipse, while those watching in Europe saw part of it at moonrise, and North Americans caught part of it as the moon set. It was not visible in South America or Antarctica. The next total eclipse will occur in 2014. "

The Evening skies amazed people all over the world last December 10, 2011 when the moon turned into a Red hue during the Lunar Eclipse that occurred.

It was the second of the 2 total lunar eclipses this year with the first having occurred on June 15, 2011. A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon is positioned just right in the orbit ofto pass through the Earth's shadow. Its a sight to behold and many superstitious beliefs are related to it however the beauty of the eclipse is not only captured by the bare eyes but by photos taken during the occurrence.

Here in Japan a lot of people was amazed. I asked for a photo from one of the members of the Association of Professional Photographers in Japan Mr. Innie Ramos to send me photos for this blog and I am thanking him for the photos.

Please visit the link posted here and view the wonderful photos from all parts of the world where the Eclipse was seen.

Association of Independent Filmmakers in Japan

Last November 26 and 27, 2011 a workshop on Introduction to Film Making was organized by Director Al Eugenio and was attended by members of the Association of Professional Photographers in Japan (APPJ) members who were interested to do Film.

On the 26th of November Introductory Sessions on the Theory of Film Making was introduced by Director Al Eugenio to an enthusiastic group. It was also attended by Barangay Japan Director Royce Shiroma Pellerin who also gave some useful insights on the subject.

The group was able to learn the Organization of the Production and how they function. The venue was at the Hirai Assembly Hall.

On the 27th of November, the group was gathered at the Koto-ku Kumin Kan near Nishi Ojima for the Technical Aspects of Film Making. Theories and practical workshops were handled with interested members.

Director Al further taught the proper set up of the Camera prior to takes.

The members were also tasked to do the set up and studied the different technicalities on how to use the Camera properly as guided by the Director.

The aim was to provide members with the right knowledge to set up the Camera and to learn how to use its different technicalities. Director Al Eugenio also taught the interested members the different approaches of the Directors in dealing with different shots during a Film shoot.

It was only the first of the series of teaching the Technical Aspects of Film Making. Someday soon another session will be organized to put more depth on the study of Film Making for Filipinos residing in Japan.

The Editors Workshop at the Media Office

Last December 6, 2011 an Editors Workshop was held at the 2nd Floor of Jenet Communications and was handled by Director Royce Pellerin. The workshop was aimed at teaching interested members of the Association of Professional Photographers in Japan how to edit videos using Final Cut Pro. Interested and enthusiastic members attended the workshop which started at 9:30 in the morning and ended up as late as 7:30 pm when the members finished one project which is technically considered to be their first editing project.

The workshop was attended by 11 members and was handled by Director Royce Shiroma Pellerin. Notes were taken attentively by the members as they went through the details of the workshop. After the theoretical session the members were given time to edit a video clip where they took turns in handling the editing for the first time always asking the Director for guidance and tips.
At the end of the session the members were able to edit and come up with one clip considered to be their first ever project as a group. Enthusiasm is the key in order to reach and achieve something and this group has another endeavor to do which will greatly help in producing good pieces of work for the Media in due time.

Thank you very much for the selfless effort of Director Royce Shiroma Pellerin and the photographs used here courtesy of Claridon Madum and Janses Yonaha of the APPJ group.

Barangay Japan - the Television Show

Barangay Japan was conceptualized by the Jnet Media Team together with ABSCBN Japan before the Big earthquake that hit Japan last March 11, 2011. It practically started its participation in the ABS CBN network when Jnet Media group was sent to Sendai to cover the tragedy that was caused by the disasters at the same time assistance was provided to the Philippine Embassy when they were evacuating Filipinos that were stranded in the areas.
Jnet Media realized that there was an urgent need to cascade vital information to the Filipinos not only here in Japan but in other parts of the world . ABS CBN and Jnet Media believed that creating a show specifically for Filipinos in Japan would benefit both ends. ABSCBN aim was to bring the Filipino community closer together and insipire them to be the best that they can be.
Barangay Japan was conceptualized and historically went On Air on September 4, 2011 with a 30 minute show comprised of interesting segments that continually run up until 10 Episodes and steadily grew and caught the attention of the televiewers. Interestingly, Barangay Japan was the first Filipino television show that was made and aired in the history of Filipino television in Japan
The Team with the support and supervision of ABSCBN Japan carefully planned the weekly planning for the shows of Barangay Japan  that were based on the actual News and interesting features.
The show was directed by Director Royce Shiroma Pellerin who was able to pull up a team that worked with passion and commitment for Barangay Japan.
As weeks went by Barangay Japan was already getting into the household of each TFC subscriber in Japan as evidenced by the reactions coming from all directions. The Production team only wanted one thing and that was to be able to deliver its best every Episode that is offered for the Filipino viewers.
Sharon Francisco, Gio Vicente, Marx Mella, Ayen Apostol, Jay Gagarin and Takenori Morimatsu were the hosts of the show that gave light in detailing each and every feature of the program.  As each week passed the more dynamic, relaxed  and detailed they got which added up to the zest of the show.
The Media Crew were supportive being “behind the scene” but played important and vital roles in order to make Barangay Japan a show to reckon with. As the pace developed into a deeper structure it was no longer something else but depth in reaching out to the Filipino community viewers in Japan and the Asia Pacific Region so they would be informed properly about what is life in Japan and how the standard norms are shaping people, the success of an individual shared to everyone and the continuous flow of successful Filipinos being introduced to the majority about the specific field they chose to be with and rise.
A bright star is shining for Barangay Japan…..it may not be immediate but its going to be part of the household sometime soon and when it happens the Filipino people are given the assurance that the show will deliver more and better if not the best for each and everyone. Being the smallest unit in a local Filipino government Barangay stands with its essence of gathering people to inform, facts to relay, stories to tell, rules to follow and so in Japan information dissemination will work its best – only in Barangay Japan!
